LIVING A CREATIVE LIFE.

What does living a creative life mean to me?

For a long time I co-hosted a podcast called “A Creative Life” with illustrator Cass Deller. We enjoyed many beautiful conversations on the subject of mixing business with energetics for creative entrepreneurs. 

While I was producing this podcast, I often had moments of reflections, and at times even doubt, as to whether I was truly living a creative life—as at the time I still worked a full time job whilst freelancing in graphic design and giving soul readings. What I see clearly now that I am living my life with full agency in my own business is that yes, I absolutely was.

Living a creative life is not some elusive, magical attainment that is reserved only for full time artists, dancers, musicians, authors etc. Not only is it available for all of us, but it is our natural birthright.

We are all born creators. We all have a connection to source. We all receive nudges from the universe and whispers of inspiration and we are all designed to follow them.

We are all making choices and moves in our world to create our lives every single day.

It may come as a surprise to some, knowing that I am a Medium and I live my life guided by the musings of the universe—but I do not consider myself to be a religious person.

Creativity is like my religion, the expression of it is like my church.

I have always been immersed in the creative arts. With a love of design, dancing, singing, music, art, storytelling—there has always been a thread of creativity in my life and in different seasons the expression of this has looked different. At times the stage was my church (it probably always will be in some way or another), other times it was the clarinet, my journal, a letterpress printer, charcoal, a fine line, an entire house renovation, or a podcast microphone. Now it is playdough with my little girl, pencils, designing my website or an Instagram post, writing these blog posts. That is the beauty of creativity—it is an everchanging channel, an extension of your soul and expression of its essence. There are no rules, no timelines, no boxes, no expectations. It is sacred, fun, and yours. 

I have always been someone that seeks and creates beauty in life. I am in the business of romanticising life. For my astrology friends playing along I am a Libra Sun with a lot of Libra placement in my chart. I am hardwired to the devotion of beauty and I truly believe it is one of the most spiritual acts for a human being. This sacred love for experiencing and creating beauty in your life is something that I am passionate about sharing and encouraging others to remember within themselves. 

You are a creative being. You are energy in motion. You deserve to live a life that feels inspired and exciting. There is so much beauty to behold in the mundane and you have the ability to alchemise the ordinary into something absolutely magic. Whether that is cooking something delicious, writing a love note, creating something with your hands, playing with your children, making a nature mandela, making love when your heart desires or moving your body to music fully uninhibited. 

We all get stuck at times in life. We all have moments when the ideas stop flowing as a creative person or we feel stagnant in our everyday lives. It is at times like this that our guidance from source energy is the magical answer we are looking for to turn this around. Sometimes we need help remembering this. 

I have created a beautiful online workshop called “Channel Your Creativity” to help us all remember our connection to our creativity. Your creativity is a living, breathing energy—a channel through which your soul speaks. This workshop is curated to be a sacred space to awaken that channel. Through ritual, reflection and guided exploration, you’ll soften the noise of the mind and listen to the whispers of your muse. You’ll leave feeling expanded, inspired and deeply connected to your creative rhythm. You will remember the beauty in your world and see it with new eyes. Today the last episode of the “A Creative Life” podcast airs. A beautiful closing to a special chapter. My hope is that on this final day, it is a remembering and reawakening to your birthright of living a creative life. Whether you work a 9-5 medical job or you are a full time artist, we are all living, breathing sentient beings with a soul that has its own unique magic to be expressed in this lifetime. In a world full of noise and consumption. I believe the antidote is your own creation. Rather than losing yourself amongst it all, I encourage you to return to your inner self and follow the nudges that are longing to be expressed within you.
